Project Definition

Outlining Goals & Objectives

The goals and objectives need to be established from the outset of the project to inform all future decisions, from site structure and planning used in the navigation to the visual design of the site. The first step in the definition process is interviewing the client to identify the actual strategic goals of the site, understanding the key audience needs and identifying key competitors. The goal of the project definition step is to identify key outcomes that are directly related to the goals of the client. Being able to bring focus to organizational goals will make developing the site easier and make the final product more effective.

Project Scope

What Needs to be Achieved & When

Project scope is the part of project planning that involves determining and documenting a list of specific project goals, features, functions, tasks, deadlines, and ultimately costs. In other words, it is what needs to be achieved, when it needs to be achieved and the work that must be done to deliver the clients website.

Website Structure

A good website comes from a great site structure

When you take away the colors, the fonts, the graphics, the images, and the white space, good website design depends on a great site structure.
The better your site structure, the better your chance of higher ranking in the search engines. If you are intentional and careful with your site structure, you will create a site that achieves search excellence.

Visual Design

The aesthetics

Once the structure for the site has been defined, the next step is to create a visual style. The overall visual style will most likely be determined by the visual brand of the client; The client’s brand plays an important role in this part of the process, as Rolfe Media will want to visually convey their branding within the design.
